Kevin’s backstory blows me away. He is the first person I have interviewed who knew in the second grade that he wanted to become an entrepreneur. Combine this with his rocky childhood, where he had to learn how to get things done, like warming his house when the electricity was turned off, and making sure he and his kid sister had something to eat, and it is not hard to see where his hustling mentality came from. This childhood of survival helped shape and prepare him to become an entrepreneur.
We cover a wide range of topics during this interview, including, starting Sodalicious, growing Sodalicious from one store to seven, hiring new employees, and dropping out of college.
Kevin is a self taught individual who discusses a ton of different books during the interview. I have compiled this list here:
- The Art of Thinking Clearly
- David and Goliath
- You Will See it When You Believe It
- Think and Grow Rich
- Greatest Salesman in the World
- Robinson Crusoe
- Hard Times
