Updates and Happenings

When I started this venture, I planned to post twice a week and do an in-depth analysis on launching a Kickstarter campaign.  What has actually happened is that I lose track of time, and I do not get to a blog post because I get caught up in other aspects of launching the campaign.  As a result, I have decided that I am going to write a shorter post each day from 4:00-5:00 p.m.  In these posts, I will give a review of my day and how I spent my time.  These posts will go live the next morning. Since I have not written a post or updated my information for the last week and half I am going...

Brand Message: Marketing Research

The following post is about survey that I have posted here for marketing research.    I have been researching different marketing strategies in preparation to launch my first Kickstarter.  Click here to review my Kickstarter Project. One of the consistent themes I find is that a Kickstarter campaign, or any product’s success for that matter, is dependent upon building a community.  One of the more effective ways to build a community is to convince potential community members of the value of your brand or product. Social Media Report Card

This is the first of a series of social media reports that I will post each week summarizing my social media growth and interaction.  Each week, I will review different strategies that I implemented, the strategy’s origin, and its success or failure.  As a warning, you might find this blog post a bit dry if you're not interested in statistics and building a community brand.  Strategy This week the strategy that I tried to implement was consistency in posting.  (This strategy can be found here:  I made a goal to post twice a day to Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and post two separate blog articles. I was only successful with the Instagram and blog posts. I consistently posted twice a day on Instagram,...

Kicking Your Own Butt

Since launching this blog last week, I’ve had a lot of great support.  I’ve also had some, “You’re crazy” white noise.  For those of you who have supported me, thank you!  For those of you who think I’m crazy, read on!  I hope to convince you that I am even more crazy than you thought before.   One thing I have learned at this point, is that if you want to start your own company, you have to be willing to make sacrifices.  For me, these sacrifices began about six months ago, when I decided to wake up at 4:00 am in the morning so that I could design a backpack.   As I mentioned in my previous post, found...

My Entrepreneur Challenge

A little over two years ago, I had a job working as an attorney in downtown Salt Lake City. One day, after spending about 30 hours reviewing a stack of discovery for a case I was working on, I looked out the window and asked myself, what am I doing with my life? And a terrifying thought passed through my mind: I was happier in college as a truck driver than I was as an attorney. Unlike being a truck driver, however, I was in a massive load of debt. I was stuck in this career path I had chosen. I was miserable. I hated my job. I hated waking up every morning and driving to the office. Most days,...
